Making Ramps in Science

You should see our class this afternoon!  We are in the middle of making ramps in science class, for our contest on Friday.  We have been studying forces of motion and friction, and this is our big project for this topic.  We are working in pairs and groups of three, and each group's goal is to make a ramp that will make the golf ball go the furthest distance down the hallway.  There is an amazing amount of very secretive planning and construction happening - duct tape ripping, groups huddled over notebooks making sketches of possible designs, and cutting cardboard into pieces. I love projects like this!
Also, this week we celebrate Dr. Suess's birthday.  Today was Crazy Sock Day, and tomorrow is Hat Day.  HOWEVER, tomorrow is ALSO picture day, so the kids know they are not supposed to put on hats until after pictures.  We will  be having our class photos taken tomorrow, as well.
